This Saturday, 15th June, we are offering a free taster yoga day at the Universal Yoga centre in Camerton near Bath. Everyone is welcomed. The day starts with a yoga class at 9:30am followed by a healthy Ayurvedic lunch at midday. Renowned coach and astrologer Dr Michael Geary will then be giving a talk from 2pm to 4pm. Join us. “Glowing skin, lustrous hair and nails, longevity, health and strength can be obtained through a diet that suits your body constitution and personal needs,” an age-old text on Ayurveda explains. Since ancient times, Ayurveda has emphasized the importance of cooking and eating the right kinds of foods if we want to be healthy, remain disease-free and increase our longevity. The ability to prepare home-cooked food to meet our personal dietary needs is therefore crucial. On Sunday, 11th August, we are offering an Ayurvedic cooking workshop at Universal Yoga, where you can learn how to prepare balanced and nutritious meals. Click here for further details.

Healthy eating is an integral part of a good yoga and Ayurveda routine. I’ve therefore started a “Balanced Eating, Vital Healing” campaign, where I’m cooking, teaching and serving vegetarian food with the aim of helping individuals achieve optimal health through eating nutritious and delicious meals every day and season of the year.

It has been six months since the launch of VitalVeda and I can honestly say that this has been a wonderful and exciting time! Back in January, I joined forces with Charlotta, the director of Universal Yoga, a beautiful centre that provides a variety of classes and retreats in an idyllic environment just outside Bath. At the “Positive Thinking Retreat” held there, I prepared Ayurvedic meals for a lovely group of students who were keen to learn about healthy eating. This spring we’ve also offered free Ayurveda classes to introduce folks to the beauty and value of this ancient healing tradition. Open classes now run every third Thursday of the month from 6pm to 7:15pm. You can drop in without booking. Check the VitalVeda calendar for the latest topics.

Just when I thought I had been to every holistic place in Bath, I met with Simona, who runs the bright and lovely Yoga Bodhi in town. Here we held a couple of free Ayurveda classes in April, where there was a great turn out of students. These will continue over the summer, every third Friday of the month from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. I will cover key topics such as women’s health, nutrition and lifestyle. If you have a special interest in a topic do let me know! I’m happy to accommodate classes to your needs.

On another note, my dear friend Simon Haas has recently published The Book of Dharma (Veda Wisdom Books, 2013), a brilliant book considered one of the best on the subject of applying ancient Indian wisdom for personal development. The book is highly relevant in the context of improving one’s health and well-being. It provides an insightful guide to better understand and successfully implement Ayurveda and yoga. I will be taking part in additional courses with Simon shortly. More information at www.bookofdharma.com.
